Najpogostejši 'krivec' za odpoved so udarci. Prehiter 'skok' s kolesom na pločnik, udarna jama, pogosti manjši tresljaji, vse to seveda neugodno vpliva na drobne elemente podvozja, kakršni so končniki in zglobi. Ni nujno, da odpovesta oba hkrati, lahko je to le končnik na eni strani in v tem primeru se menja le tistega. Vsaka gibljiva stvar ima zglob ali končnik, tudi volan, zato okvara neugodno vpliva še na krmiljenje, poveča se obraba pnevmatik in tudi varno ni vse skupaj.
